Microsoft showed the region’s oil and gas organisations the power of digital transformation to engage, empower and optimise, at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2017.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi; ADIPEC 2017 runs until 16 November attracting more than 95,000 visitors from around the world. In its debut, Microsoft is participating as the ‘Strategic Digital Transformation Partner’, to showcase real life industry 4.0 principles across every stage of the oil and gas value chain. The Company is also hosting an Oil and Gas Solution Demo Theatre, where visitors can get first-hand experience of the company’s industry-specific solutions, as well as those of its partners.
“Digital brings the Oil & Gas industry exceptional capabilities to tackle problems, and address new potentials, in a cost effective and efficient manner”, said Omar Saleh, Director Manufacturing & Resources, Microsoft Middle East & Africa. “Building systems of intelligence that integrate to enable end-to-end networks of value co-creation is what digital transformation is all about and that is what we and our partners are here to demonstrate. Engage customers, empower employees, optimise operations and reinvent business models – the possibilities are all but limitless, once you begin to explore the potential of the intelligent cloud and the intelligent edge.”
A major highlight at Microsoft’s stand is the Connected Field Service solution, that has strong relevance to the oil and gas sector. The solution empowers field workers at all levels to move to a proactive and predictive service model, leveraging connected devices and machine learning capabilities to combine remote monitoring, digital services, and predictive maintenance.
“The Connected Field Service solution gives a broader picture of operations to optimize resources, improve scheduling through field service and field management software, making the most of employee productivity and resolving issues faster.” Explained Saleh. “Organizations can capture and analyze data from connected devices and with the help of Azure IoT Suite, workers can receive real-time alerts from devices—including places that were previously difficult to monitor”
