Uber and Careem are on preliminary talks for a potential merger in Middle Eastern ride-hailing service. Even though the company has talked about a number of deals, no agreement were reached upon yet. Uber is in plans to own atleast half or the entire Careem company. Uber has already sold operations in China, Russia and Southeast parts of Asia.
Even though Uber manages to keep its cost per km rate considerably lower than the competition Careem, it seems like they are trying to acquire it to avoid further competition in future. Careem also has a one dirham lesser cost on both base and minimum fare. Will this one dirham difference lead into one of the biggest acquisition in Middle Eastern market?
